Fish Sticks Recipe with a Secret

Why don’t some kids like fish sticks?

Try using our simple trick that makes our fish sticks recipe more party friendly for kids.

We think it’s the taste, not the texture that turns some kids away from fish sticks. We compensate for it by dipping the stick in a mild sugar solution just before baking – kind of like the way we always had a little sugar to spaghetti sauce.

Portions/Servings

This recipe will feed 25 kids, if you are you are serving other snacks, and/or appetizers, dinners, etc. Read about Party Food Quantities and how to plan for the right amounts.

Fish Sticks Recipe Shopping List for 25 Kids:

___50-75 Fish Sticks. Two each for younger children, three for older, and so on. Teens will gobble them up! Read the package to get the right quantities. We always use “plain,” normal coating.

___ Ketchup, large bottle.

___ Small amount of sugar

Procedure:

On the Day of the Party:

Follow the package directions for time and temperature to bake the fish sticks.

Cover a half pan or cookie sheet with aluminum foil, spray with vegetable release spray and set aside.

In a small bowl, combine two cups of warm water and 3tbsp. of sugar. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Quickly dip each fish stick into the sugar solution, shake away any liquid excess, and place it on the aluminum foiled pan.

Follow the package directions and bake until done.

SAFETY TIP: Allow the fish sticks to stand for several minutes before serving. Test one to make sure it’s cooled down and off for small mouths.

"Daddy, I can do it myself!"

Presentation: Your Eyes Eat First

Use whatever presentation works best for your party, however we’ve learned its best to have a helper stand at the table and serve the kids. Keep the ketchup nearby!

Leftovers:

Place in any leftovers in zip-lock bags, squeeze out all the air and seal tightly. Remember to reheat them thoroughly to 165°.
