16+/- ounces of chopped clams
8 ounces cream cheese
8 ounces mayonnaise
1/4 cup onion, chopped
2 scallions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt
Drain the clams but save the liquid in the refrigerator.
Combine the rest of the ingredients with the clams. Transfer the dip to a smaller bowl (which can be your serving bowl,) cover tightly with film, and refrigerate overnight.
On the day of your party, uncover the dip and add as much of the liquid you saved to get the consistency you want. Give it a good stir, and garnish with a few shakes of paprika, chopped scallion, chopped tomato, etc - something with lots of color.
This is a chip dip exclusive for us - we stay with potato chips. But that's just us - we've heard lots of folks talk about enjoying this on bread. And, spread on bread and placed under a broiler for a minute or two gives a really unique taste and texture. Give it a try!
