Chocolate Fudge Pie Recipe

We like to do things quickly and not have to mess with something too much. But this is an exception to our rule. Our baker wrinkles up her nose a little when she sees this one the menu, because she knows that extra time needs to be budgeted - maybe even an extra person if we have lots to do.
But - we would not go through this if it we're worth it. You see when you taste it. Perfection.

Portions/ServingsThis recipe will feed 8 people, making one pie.

1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
2 cups milk
6 tablespoons flour
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter (no substitute)
1 pie shell,baked
In a medium saucepan, combine everything except the butter and vanilla. Stirring constantly, slowly cook it until it thickens, usually a few minutes after you see a bubble.
Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Then add the butter and vanilla.
Immediately pour the fudge into your pie crust.
Allow to cool overnight. When serving, warm your knife blade in hot water and wipe clean after each cut.

We like to use shaved white chocolate, whipped cream and sometimes chopped nuts for the topping.
A variation on this recipe is to add pecans.
