Chocolate Fudge Cake Recipe

The chocolate fudge filling is really good - thick and nice, still easy to make.

1 chocolate cake mix
1/4 cup butter
2 cups white sugar
6 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped walnuts, if you like


Follow the cake mix directions and bake in 2- 9” pans. Allow to cool. Remove from pans.

Make the fudge filling by combining everything else except the vanilla. Cook it up on the stove, get it to boil, stir for 2 minutes, add the vanilla, turn off heat and wait for 30 minutes.

Place the first layer of cake on your serving plate. With a long, serrated knife, cut the crown of the cake off, so that it is flat, and the top “crust” is removed.

Now pour some or all of the fudge over the first layer. Place the second layer on top, and use more fudge for the top - or make the Fudge Frosting below:
