Avocado Dip

Avocado Dip should be just that - Avocado

Avocado is avocado, with a wonderful taste all it’s own. Sure, we’ve got a great guacamole recipe, but forget that for now - here’s our recipe for Avocado:

We’ll add a couple of other flavors just to make it interesting (and wonderful) but this recipe lets the avocado come through in a big way.

We urge you to experiment with the different kinds of avocado available in your area. Taste and texture can vary quite a bit.

And the acid - the fruit juice added to this dip - serves to protect the avocado's color and keep it fresh. But orange juice, or lemon (and many others) will do the job as well, and do affect the flavor. Stylize your dip to match what your dipping it with, flavor-wise.

Ingredients

3 avocados, ripe
8 ounces of sour cream
2 scallions, chopped
1 tablespoon of ranch salad dressing dry mix
1 teaspoon lime juice (from fruit only)

1 avocado, ripe - optional

Directions

Peel and pit the avocado. Mash them into oblivion and add in the rest of the ingredients.

Cover very tightly with film, pushing the film right down onto the surface of the food (no room for air.) Refrigerate for 1-2 hours.

Transfer to your serving dish, keep covered when not in use.

Optional: For a garnish, we like to carefully peel and pit another avocado, slice it into nice looking pieces and decorate the serving dish. We also use chopped tomato and red onion.

Breads, crackers, chips, veggies - what doesn’t go with this delicious dip?
